🌳 Pariamanu Camp Tour 2D/1N
DESCRIPTION
🧭 Description
If you’re into unfiltered nature, sleeping under the stars, and experiencing the authentic pulse of the tropical forest, this trip is for you. Pariamanu Camp is a remote corner of the Tambopata ecological corridor, reached by navigating rivers that wind through giant trees, native communities, and landscapes that seem out of this world. This 2-day, 1-night tour will take you to witness one of Peru’s greatest natural spectacles: the Pariamanu macaw clay lick, where these majestic birds come every morning to feed on the mineral soil.
ITINERARY
🗓 Itinerary: Pariamanu Camp 2D/1N
🌄Day 1: Puerto Maldonado – Madre de Dios River – Pariamanu Camp
- Pickup and welcome in Puerto Maldonado
Very early, our team will pick you up from your hotel or meeting point in Puerto Maldonado to begin the adventure. After transfer to the river port, we’ll board a motorized boat that will take us upriver.
- Navigation on the Madre de Dios River
We’ll begin the river trip along one of the main tributaries of the Amazon basin. During the tour, you’ll be able to observe herons, cormorants, river swallows, and, with a bit of luck, capuchin monkeys hopping through the trees.
- Breakfast en route
We’ll enjoy a boxed lunch served on board, accompanied by the sounds of the awakening jungle. Natural juices, homemade breads, tropical fruits, and Amazonian coffee will give you energy to continue the journey.
-
Navigation to the Piedras and Pariamanu Rivers
As we travel deeper into the jungle, the vegetation becomes denser and the surroundings wilder. We will travel along the Piedras River until we reach Pariamanu, home to one of the most important clay licks in the region. During this stretch, it is common to see macaws, toucans, howler monkeys, and other tropical fauna.
- Arrival at Pariamanu Camp
Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by the local team at an eco-camp located next to the river, surrounded by pristine nature. The tents have basic amenities for a safe and comfortable stay. You will have time to refresh yourself, take photographs, and enjoy the scenery.
- Amazonian Lunch at Camp
A traditional lunch will be served with fresh fish wrapped in bijao leaves, fried yuca, roasted plantain, and salads made with local ingredients. Typical fruits such as cocona or camu camu complete the gastronomic experience.
- Interpretive Walk through the Amazon Rainforest
In the afternoon, we will take a guided walk along the forest trails. During the tour, you will observe giant trees, medicinal plants, and animal tracks such as tapirs, armadillos, and peccaries. The guide will explain the spiritual relationship between native communities and the rainforest, as well as their ancestral knowledge of plants.
-
Rest and Amazonian Sunset
Return to camp to relax in hammocks facing the river, enjoy the sunset, or simply listen to the sounds of the jungle that mark the beginning of the night.
- Dinner at Camp
A warm dinner awaits you under the light of lanterns and surrounded by the nocturnal symphony of the jungle. After dinner, we will begin a fascinating nighttime boat ride on the Pariamanu River. With powerful lanterns, we will look for the glowing eyes of caimans and listen to the calls of frogs, owls, and other nocturnal animals.
- Rest at camp
Return to camp to spend the night in safe and comfortable tents, with the cooing of crickets, night monkeys, and the murmur of the river as a natural soundtrack.
🦜Day 2: Pariamanu Macaw Clay Lick – Return to Puerto Maldonado
- Wake up to the sounds of the jungle
Before dawn, the jungle awakens, and with it, we do. A cup of organic coffee or hot tea will give you the energy you need to witness one of the Amazon’s most impressive natural spectacles.
- Sailing to the Pariamanu Macaw Clay Lick
We set off by motorized boat for a few minutes to reach the Pariamanu Clay Lick, located about 35 km from Puerto Maldonado. During the journey, the sky turns golden as the first rays of the sun illuminate the forest.
- Macaw and Parrot Watching
From a safe vantage point, we will observe the natural spectacle where dozens of macaws, parrots, and parakeets arrive in flocks to feed on the medicinal clay. Species such as the red-and-green macaw, the scarlet macaw, and the blue-headed parrot can be seen.
- Country breakfast in front of the clay lick
While we enjoy the view, a light breakfast will be served with tropical fruits, artisan breads, and natural juices.
-
Return to Pariamanu Camp
Back at camp, you will have free time to relax in hammocks, read, write, or simply contemplate the jungle landscape that surrounds the site.
- Amazonian lunch and conclusion of the experience
The farewell lunch will include fresh fish, rice, salads, and local fruits. This is a last opportunity to savor the essence of the Amazon before returning.
- Return navigation to Puerto Maldonado

🎒 Ideal luggage for a short jungle expedition
- 🧳 Medium backpack or trekking backpack (30-40 liters): This will be your main piece of luggage. Bring only the essentials, as transportation is by river and space is limited.

👕 Appropriate clothing for tropical and humid climates
- 👕 Long-sleeved shirts or polo shirts, preferably light-colored, with breathable, and quick-drying fabrics. This will protect you from the sun, insects, and irritating plants.
- 👖 Lightweight, durable long pants (avoid jeans): ideal for protection during hikes through dense vegetation.
