ITINERARY
πΊοΈ Itinerary
π Departure from Puno
We begin the tour with pickup from your accommodation in Puno’s historic center. During the approximately 20-minute tour, we will skirt Lake Titicaca while the guide shares valuable information about the region’s history, geography, and traditions.
ποΈ Arrival in Chucuito: The Town of Colonial Relics
Our first stop is the picturesque town of Chucuito, known as “The City of Royal Boxes” because during the colonial era it was an important administrative center where indigenous tributes were collected. Today, it still retains its old-fashioned charm with cobblestone streets, flower-filled plazas, and historic temples.
During the guided tour, we will visit:
Chucuito’s Main Square: A peaceful space where you can observe daily town life, surrounded by colonial churches and stalls selling local crafts.
The Sundial: An ancient astronomical tool used by the original inhabitants to measure agricultural and ceremonial time.
Santo Domingo Church and the Colonial Tambos: Your guide will explain the history of these religious temples and their connection to Andean evangelization.
At this point, you will also have free time to purchase handcrafted products made by locals, such as textiles, pottery, and typical mountain souvenirs.
β©οΈ Entrance to the Inca Uyo Temple: Fertility Ceremonial Center
Then we will head to the Inca Uyo archaeological complex, a short walk from the center of Chucuito. This site is shrouded in mystery and history. It houses more than 80 phallic-shaped stone sculptures that emerge from the ground within a rectangular space surrounded by Inca walls.
During the guided tour, you will learn about:
Ancestral beliefs related to human and agricultural fertility.
The link between natural cycles and Andean rituals.
How the perception of this site has evolved from pre-Inca times to become a tourist attraction.
Many visitors come to the site not only for its archaeological value but also for its spiritual energy.
π§ Return to Puno
After enjoying the mystical surroundings of Inca Uyo, we’ll return to Puno. On the way back, you’ll once again admire the vast plains, agricultural fields, and the majestic lake that serves as our backdrop.
We’ll arrive around noon, leaving you free time to continue exploring the city, enjoy the local cuisine, or visit other nearby attractions on your own.
