Itinerary

🗺️ Tour Itinerary

Starry Night and Sunrise Tour on the Uyuni Salt Flats

The adventure begins with pickup from your hotel in Uyuni or at a previously agreed-upon meeting point. Aboard a 4×4 vehicle, we head to a secluded spot in the salt flats, ideal for stargazing in total darkness and away from light pollution.

At dawn, the sky transforms into a canvas filled with stars, constellations, the Milky Way, and, in some months, meteor showers. During the rainy season (December to March), you can witness the salt flat’s famous mirror effect, where the sky is perfectly reflected in the water, creating an astonishing optical illusion.

Little by little, the horizon begins to light up with the first rays of the sun. You’ll enjoy a magical sunrise in absolute silence, surrounded by a panoramic view that seems straight from another planet.

After the experience, your driver will take you back to your hotel, the Uyuni airport, or the bus station, depending on your preferences.

Recommendations

🎒 Tour Recommendations

Bring very warm clothing

Temperatures in the Bolivian Altiplano can drop dramatically, especially between May and August, when nighttime temperatures can reach several degrees below zero. It is recommended to dress in layers and include gloves, a hat, a scarf, and a thermal jacket or windbreaker.

Wear comfortable, waterproof footwear

The salt flat terrain can be wet or slippery, especially during the rainy season (December through March). Wear sneakers or boots with good traction that will allow you to walk safely.

If traveling during the rainy season, bring waterproof clothing and a change of clothes

During these months, the salt flat transforms into a natural mirror, and it is common to get wet when walking on its surface. Bring a waterproof poncho or jacket, as well as dry clothes to change into at the end of the tour.

Don’t forget your camera or cell phone with a good night vision device

The Salar de Uyuni is a perfect setting for day and night photography. On clear nights, the sky fills with stars and is ideal for capturing spectacular astronomical images.

Bring a headlamp or flashlight

If you participate in the astronomical experience or end the tour at night, a flashlight is very useful for safely navigating in poorly lit areas.

Not recommended for people with mobility difficulties or who are very sensitive to the cold: Due to the extreme altitude, weather, and uneven terrain, this tour requires a certain level of physical stamina and tolerance to low temperatures.

Bring light snacks and a water bottle

Although the tour includes food, the routes are long, and the dry climate can cause dehydration. It is recommended to bring energy bars, fruit or nuts, and a reusable water bottle.

Protect the environment

Do not leave trash, avoid damaging natural formations, or extracting salt. The salt flat is a fragile ecosystem, and its conservation depends on the care of each visitor.
